Users of Cardiff Bus services will be interested to know that, due to Covid-induced staff shortages, the company will be providing their Saturday timetable services on weekdays, from 10 January (with a few exceptions).

Residents of the Sidings may be aware that their community Christmas tree is no longer lit.

This is because, a couple of days ago, someone slit the wires.

Here's a picture (above) of one of the cut cables.

We had to arrange an emergency call out, using 'your money', to make the cables safe. A repair was not possible, so the tree will not be lit again until Christmas 2022.

Please feel free to let us know, below, what you think about this act of vandalism.

Once again the Community Council has managed to tempt Father Christmas to pay a special visit to our community!

We now have his schedule for this evening (see below). The weather forecast is not too bad, so it should be a nice evening to pop out and wave hello to the great man!

If you listen carefully, you will hear the music from his Christmas-disco enhanced sleigh - they you will see the bright lights of the contraption as it slides magically along!

We've received the correspondence, below, from Cardiff Council. We will be studying this latest set of consultation documents and preparing our response. If you have any views about the consultation, please let us know or you can contact Cardiff Council direct.

Cardiff Council has prepared a Candidate Site Register, listing all the sites that have been submitted by developers for consideration in the replacement LDP. The register is currently for information only and does not form part of the consultation at this stage. Even so, residents will be interested to know that it includes two sites in Radyr and Morganstown, referred to as Goitre Fawr, Plasdŵr (shown here) and Radyr Station Car Park (shown here).

Goitre Fawr was submitted by the Plymouth Estate and Redrow Homes as land suitable for 'residential-led mixed use development forming an extension to the existing Plasdŵr allocation'. You can see the extent of the site on the plan shown below.

Radyr Station Car Park was submitted by the Welsh Government for 'transit orientated development through the reconfiguration of the car park to deliver transport integration measures and potential redevelopment for employment / residential uses'.

We are preparing a new Local Development Plan (LDP) for Cardiff to replace the existing LDP. The Replacement LDP will help shape Cardiff for the next 15 years to 2036 so it is vital that we involve as many stakeholders as possible in the consultation.

 The aim of the LDP is to ensure the right developnment happens in the right place at the right time, benefitting communities and the economy and setting out which areas need to be protected.

An important role of the LDP is to set out how Cardiff will change to accommodate development needs over the plan period 2021 -2036.

The LDP must set out the right level of growth for Cardiff over the plan period based on available evidence and identify possible ways of providing for this growth.
At this stage we are keen to get views on:

• options for future levels of housing and jobs growth in Cardiff
• possible ways of providing for growth to meet future needs

As readers will know, we've had a NextBike station in Radur for some time now - on Station Road.

Sadly, the service has been suspended, following an extraordinary amount of theft and vandalism of the bikes. 

Since the bikes were introduced in Cardiff in 2018, 300 bikes have been stolen, with a 160 of those bikes being taken since August last year. 260 bikes have also been scrapped due to vandalism, ranging from bikes being set on fire or snapped in half, to being dumped in rivers.

What, exactly, is the world coming to?!

In an attempt to tackle the problem, Cardiff Youth Service are working with NextBike to find out why this is happening and what can be done to reduce the thefts and vandalism of the bikes.

We're looking to hire a new Senior Clerk to work for our Council!

We are a busy, friendly, Community Council, based at the Old Church Rooms in Radyr.

We look after the Old Church Rooms (our community hall) - and we are responsible for key aspects of our local environment (such as Radyr Woods and Windsor Gardens).

We provide grant support for local organisations - and do our best to help make Radyr and Morganstown a great place to live.

The successful applicant would lead a small team of staff and work closely with the Council Chair and other councillors.

We are looking for someone keen to help us make a difference - and to help us develop new ideas and projects that can benefit our community.

Residents may have noticed that we have begun decorating Radyr and Morganstown, ready for Christmas! We have hung our lights in Station Road and on lampposts on Heol Isaf and Ty Nant Road.

The next stage will be delivery of the Community Council's Windsor Gardens' Christmas Tree on Monday 15th November at approximately 10am.

Police cones will be put out at the bottom end of Windsor Road the evening before so that the delivery truck can offload and install the tree.

We would be very grateful if the the Police cones are not removed for cars to park there on Monday 15th.

​We will be switching everything on as soon as possible!

We've received a short note from TfW advising us that they will be undertaking some de-vegetation work in Morganstown from today until Saturday. The enclosed map shows the extent of the proposed work.
